CHAPTER TEST PLOT
The CAM FFA Chapter is proud to re-establish a past tradition of planting an annual test plot. After meeting with our alumni group, our chapter decided that this would be a great opportunity to showcase our hard work and dedication, as well as learning new skills. We started by finding a few acres of land to grow our crop on, which we use as an extended outdoor classroom. The land was rented from an active alumni family and was developed as a collaboration between our alumni and chapter. Our chapter asked for donations from local seed dealers and businesses. We were thrilled to receive 53 different varieties of seed corn. The 4.7 acres of land was planted on April 30, 2021 with the help of active alumni members. Throughout the summer of 2021, the chapter officers and alumni members worked hard to maintain the corn and create a sign for the test plot. We also received help from CAM's Small Business class to create our new sign. With the donations of local businesses, we were able to have crop treatment taken care of. On September 19th, our alumni hosted a Test Plot Night to promote our project and introduce the seed dealers. Our final crop was harvested on November 4th. Our chapter and alumni plans to plant, maintain, and harvest a corn test plot in 2022.
